Connecting Grassroots Clubs to International Opportunity.

As the first and only SBP Affiliate, this opportunity is extending across Australia at local grassroots clubs, giving an opportunity to collaborate under a unified pathway system into the Philippines National Programs.

Leveraging Royals Basketball affiliation in building a connection with the Philippines, we are an independent group with the same passion to unite grassroots basketball in Australia to the Philippines. We do this through collaboration and networking together. We aim to create a national community network that provides exposure, opportunity, and pathways for athletes of Filipino heritage.

Who We are

SBP Australia Basketball has been established as a non-for-profit body dedicated to establishing Australia’s first collaboration network that bridges grassroots basketball and creates pathway structures for athletes of Filipino lineage to gain exposure to the Philippines National Program.

Our commitment is to nurture growth and excellence in Filipino basketball talent, striving to build a strong national network with Royals Basketball and its partnership with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), uniting and supporting basketball clubs for athletes of Filipino heritage across Australia.

Incorporated with 12 founding members and 3 affiliated clubs, there are 5 elected board members under its Constitution since establishment in October 2025. The incorporation is registered under State and National Governing bodies to carry out activities Australia-wide.

We are an established non for-profit group united by the purpose of creating pathway opportunities.

With that vision we are serving to contribute to the growth of basketball and SBP Philippines collective mission to promote and strengthen collaboration between our countries.

We are not in any way an entity, regional office, or subsidiary of the SBP Philippines Federation, the governing body for basketball in the Philippines.

Our mission is to serve the same purpose to promote and align the values in which the Royals Basketball affiliation was granted. We uphold this with pride and commitment in what we do through the events and programs connecting us together that will bring the affiliation to life and our committee group are a collective network that link together Australia’s grassroots basketball communities.

Membership

There are 3 types of membership as part of Royals Basketball approved Affiliated Global Partner of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP). This affiliation carries with it a membership commitment criteria, obligations, and responsibilities that underpin the values of the established non-for-profit entity and its constitution.

Elected members from the SBP Australia Basketball Board Committee acting as the advisory panel is responsible for working in partnership with conference leads for overseeing grassroots development including program pathways, player selection criteria, and eligibility.

National State Conferences

The 5 States will comprise of the following conferences:

North: Queensland

East: New South Wales, ACT

Central: South Australia

West: Western Australia

South: Victoria, Tasmania

Governing Leaders Framework

National Conference leaders will be the point of contact for the relevant states, that operates under a national construct.

Uniting Australian Clubs Through a National Pathway to Philippine Programs

The objectives of the membership model are to:

Align with standards and brand identity with the Philippines
Ensure a unified National network and consistency of standards of athlete and player curriculum
Provide a collaborative structure where clubs and academy contributions to grassroots are recognised
Provide transparency and understanding of the role of grassroots basketball into the Philippines National Program
Provide a transparent process for exposing a talent pipeline across the Nation in specific Age categories aligned to the FIBA Asia Cup intake period.
