A sports club team is a collective group of teams that is centrally coordinated. Services offered by Royals Basketball include professional coaching and development of basketball athletes. While there are many parent volunteers helping in a range of activities, coaches are paid and employed and we operate as a business entity.
Coaching for all areas of Basketball with a curriculum aimed at the development of athletes. Group training provides athletes to progress and allows pathways to excel by building on the fundamentals, therefore we do not limit our training based on age but focus on mastering the skillset.
Conditioning and basketball training is embedded in our core service offering. We offer specialised training from time to time through partnering with other Basketball and community organisations.
Royals Basketball provides team placement at Hills Basketball and City of Blacktown Basketball for local competition, twice a year for summer and winter seasons.
Every season, we confirm existing placements and welcome new athletes to our club team. We charge a non-refundable team placement fee of $100 for players interested in securing a position in the team.
We commence planning up to 6 weeks prior in the lead up to the competition entry dates, and confirm the team line up with season fees due a week prior to team entries opening for registration.
Yes. The program is not age based, but more focussed on specific skill progression, and the 6 fundamentals of the foundations of basketball (Footwork, Dribbling, Shooting, Passing, 1v1 Defense, Decision Making Game IQ).
Strength & conditioning sessions are offered as part of an athlete’s development to focus on endurance and specific techniques to prevent or reduce injury whilst focussing on specific body movements related to basketball in all aspects of our programs.
All training programs can change according to service demands and is a separate/optional package to the season fees.
Group team trainings are held weekly for 1.5 hours at Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope. With limited venues and challenges in the past with number of athletes attending trainings this is done as a group for a number of reasons such as player numbers, applying consistency across the teams in the application of the coaching curriculum of our training program, and venues and other conflicting commitments of families and aligning coach availability to coordinate specific team trainings.

Other fees (varies season to season):
Each athlete pays a season fee paid for each team they are playing for. This covers the cost of team entry, court fees, and coaches fees for a season and 1.5 hours weekly training
Our training programs are a separate service offering and is paid on a per term basis
In line with the increase in court hire fees at the venues for training and the demand on resources, we have had to align the cost of business to operate and remain viable so that we can provide the basketball conditioning and coaching services.
Local competition game fees have also increased season to season.
Fees are always subject to change, and ample notice will be provided to all members in these circumstances.
A lot of work to coordinate the teams along with the administration. Registration process follows team entry fees paid to the Associations for the season, resourcing and budgeting for the coaches assigned to the teams. The uniform order process takes time and involves upfront costs and coordinating with the supplier.
We have outlined in our terms of service regarding our refund policy. Note that team placement fees are non-refundable and season fees are not refunded by the associations due to injury or player withdrawing from competition during a season for other reasons, therefore we are unable to refund either.
Training is designed to meet certain needs at certain times for athletes. Our program training offering is for members and non-members, therefore it is run each term (Terms 1, 2, 3, and 4) each year. They are designed for specific needs and goals.
Training jerseys are available for optional purchase at a cost of $45. Our apparel range is available for purchase throughout the year. Only the game uniform is compulsory when playing in the team with our club.
Skillsets of each player and development vary from season to season due to player movement within the clubs and between teams and age groups. Coaching staff always consider performance from the previous season or parent concerns and consideration, and we always look for the right fit/mix of skills in a team and put the best interest of the athlete.
In limited instances, we will consider at the parents request. Given the administrative work between Royals and the relevant association for changes to teams, we will no longer make changes IF the move/placement results in the child unable to cope or is dissatisfied with the team in which they are placed. Parents are now being held accountable for this decision as they insisted on this.
As a Royals athlete, we work with the parents looking for continued development and progress. The head coaches and coaching staff will be honest in their opinion, and this should be respected and considered to get the best experience from local competition. Parents are asked to trust the process, and our experience in the basketball community.
This includes attending trainings, commitment to improving as demonstrated in local comp games. Ideally there should be 8 players to a team but in some cases, there can be 10. The need to balance the team numbers is also a factor and is discussed with the coaches.
This is based on year of birth. You must be under that specific age group in the current year in order to qualify.
Yes, definitely. As long as your child fits the age requirement and there is a Royals team for that division, we will try our best to make the right fit for your child.
We must also ensure that the competition by-laws and age qualifiers are met. This is now limited to two teams max from the Summer 2023-2024 Season and one team must be played in their current age group.
Note that season fees will be at a discounted rate for the second team.
Local competition by-laws allow up to week 4 of competition and depending on the timing of joining these orders are processed and sent to our overseas supplier. We plan as much as possible and keep our cut off times to make it prior or by week 1 of competition. As they are customised, names and sizing are coordinated and sent for production. We cannot hold off on lateness of order details and put them aside for the next shipment to avoid delays for those who ordered on time.
Orders will only be placed and processed once payment for uniforms are made.
In the event there are no uniforms, we hold a limited number of spare loan jerseys to be worn with plain black shorts no pockets.
Yes. Volunteers are unpaid roles such as Team Managers. We do offer other incentives to acknowledge the work.
